Swirls, haze and wash marks are not dirt — they are thousands of fine scratches in the clear coat, and no amount of washing touches them. Correction is machine polishing that levels the clear coat back down until the scratches are gone.
It is the step before a ceramic coating, and it is the reason a coated car looks the way it does. Sealing a swirled car just makes the swirls shiny.
What it is not
- It is not a detail. A wash and wax cleans the surface; correction removes a layer of it. Different job, different price, different result.
- It is not unlimited. Clear coat is finite and a car that has been machined hard before has less of it left. If yours is at that point we will tell you rather than take another layer off.
- It does not stop new marks. That is what the coating on top is for.
